Dr. Aarran Shaw

I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Nevada, Reno, working with Professor Richard Plotkin. My main research focus involves the study of compact objects in binary systems. I am a multi-wavelength astronomer, with experience across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. In particular, I am passionate about optical, NIR, and X-ray astronomy.

My main research area focuses on accreting compact objects - binary systems consisting of a stellar remnant of some description (either a white dwarf, neutron star or black hole) accreting matter from a normal (usually main sequence) star.
